I can’t belive I actually live in this city! ‘The Sandpit’ is a really cute video shot with tiltshifted timelapses of NYC.
The Sandpit from Sam O'Hare on Vimeo.
Yesterday I facilitated the Hyper Island Recruitment tour in New York! It’ were held in the beautiful Droga5 office in SOHO, Manhattan. Me and Eva, PM at Hyper Island, interviewed a whole bunch of talented people who wanted to go to Sweden to have the Hyper experience, It was intense!
After the recruitment process I held a shorter presentation for the participants and explained a little bit about how it’s like to be a student at Hyper Island.
“Hmmmmmmm” x2
T-rex arm
The winter of 09-10 will be remebered as a long, cold, snowy and pretty annoying one. But it’s seems like it has lost the battle against spring in New York, at last!
We found our rooftop be the perfect spot for hanging out on sunny sundays!
We also hade a visit from Björn who been spending one week hare in New York before he heads back to Sweden!
Me and Björn went urban exploring in downtown brooklyn the other day and we spotted some cool stuff!
We also took a cab to Brooklyn Flea-market, an old bank building that now is filled with awesome second-hand, upcoming designers pieces and random awesomeness! And the old vault (with a massive safe-door and all) is now a small foodcourt with all different knds of food and pasteries! A must see if you ever visit New York and wanna do some serious second-hand shopping!
Work is smooth as always. Besides of developing I also got my first project as a producer! I can’t belive it’s been four months since we arrived in NYC, time just flies by. I have loved every second of it and will probably love the rest as well!
Yea that’s right! Hyper is recruiting international students and will be hosted at Droga5! So if your curious about what Hyper Island is all about, and are in New York on the 13th of march, just swing by! I’ll be there and mingle and answer questions!
Harald arrived today and are going to do his internship at Great Works! Welcome dude!
Gah what a long post.. I need to do smaller posts, more often.. But the time! WERE DO I FIND THE TIME!?
Work for 10hours, eat for one and then freelance for the remaining.. And I really need to update my portfolio as well..
Maybe next time!
Really nice site for Verbatim, done by Roxik, crazy!
has seriously been the coldest experience I’ve had in my life. New York is freaking freeeeeeeeeeeezing!! But the cold outside I can handle. It’s the cold inside the apartment that makes me wanna go fcuking berserk and punch our landlord in the face! Apparently we have to pay gas separately and we haven’t registered an account with a gas-company yet because the landlord didn’t tell us that we had to!
The whole apartment is heated with gas, and even so the stove and owen. So we can’t cook either! It pretty much suck! I miss cooking my own food. Now we are running on take-out and resturant foods for every single meal! (Well.. thats pretty sweet, but I miss cooking my own food)
Except for the heating issue the week has been pretty regular. I’m starting to feel at home in New York and love it at work! The only thing I’m missing is working out, but I’ll probably join a gym this week.
it has been a pretty calm week. We got some feedback on the Bloomberg project and had to fix those. And on the Starbucks project we are still waiting for assets from the client so we are on hold. Pretty sweet to be working with such a big client as Starbuck though!
We are also working on a internal project that is pretty sweet, let’s me experiment alot with new techniques to do stuff so I’m learning a bunch!
We also hade two new guys starting at the office this week! Tore and Erik! Seems like two really chill dudes that are gonna rock out at the office! We also managed to hook them up on an aparment in our Rocket factory! (the building we live in) So they move in on the fifth floor tomorrow! Did someone say COD-nights!?
for the iphone a couple of days ago, so all the pictures I have taken this week has been with it, I like the retro feel of the photos, even though some of them gets pretty blurry. It’s called Hipstamatic, check it out, pretty fun! It even has a ‘Williamsburg’ kit for the uberhipsters, were we live!
Ground Zero is located like two blocks from the office.
Serious dudes
Twitter-shitter and Gregster
Party in the Icecreamfactory (yes another factory..) and Tore (on the right left) shows that he can do just as good duckfaces as Kristofer.
Jade was there, as well as two monkeys playing chatroulette!
If you are in Stockholm you should defiantly go to SWEDISH BAKERY on Bonden Bar this Wednesday! As you might know my dear friends Niklas and Johan is running the club while me and Daniel is setting up the New York office! I found this little neat video that describes the club in a pretty good way!
Cake it or leave it!
Hello people!
The first month of 2010 is soon to be over and the new decenium couldn’t start out any better, the epic year-bar has been set! It has happened so much, this blogpost is gonna be a big one
Mostly semi-crap images caught on my iphone as usual, but it will have to do!
is my first DJ-gig in New York! Jens, James and some of their friends threw a big party at the beautiful lounge of Thompson Hotel LES and asked me to DJ the event, of-course I said yes! It was a great evening except from som minor technological issues with the DJ-setup. Even though the place was a lounge, I managed to scrape some dancemoves together from the crowd
One pale dude
The beautiful Thompson Hotel LES! For ALOT of pictures from the night, visit Your-Majestys flickr-page (some pictures might be NSFW)
is that mine and Kristofers first project on Your-Majesty has gone live! We made a flash micro-site for Bloombergs upcoming campaign “Think Technology Solutions”. It was quite the challange to get all 3d stuff in there so I’m very proud that it turned out the way it did. Check it out here –> Think Technology Solutions
I learned tons of stuff during this project that will help me handle the next incoming projects much more efficient!
Even more epic than the previous headlines are that Your-Majesty decided to invite the whole company on a trip to Puerto Rico for the weekends! We went there for 5days and stayed at Hilton Caribe.
We had a great time, so much crazy fun. Unfortunately the weather was pretty rough at sometimes, but we compensated with drinkin Pina Coladas instead, which helped out. We also happened to time in the monthly carneval of San Juan (the capitol of Puerto Rico). Alot of people doing alot of crazy shit
Photo galore!
Four serious dudes and a happy Georgios!
The view that greeted us every morning.

And Margaritas! (Love the Duckface Krista)
After drinks we went downtown to check out the carneval everyone was talking about. There was ALOT of people hangin out, dancing and what not!
We did as the locals and bought ourselves some Puerto Rican Partydrinks! Basically slush-puppy with alot of rum added to it
Happy lads!
Looks like they spotted something…
Damn that dude have an awesome Padawan tail going on… Better drink more to calm my jealousness…
Feeling muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better now!
After a while we decided to enter that blue building in the background inside was, wait for it…
We did not only drink us off our asses on the streets of San Juan…
We did it at fancy places to!
Les San Juan Hotel / Casion – Fancy pantsy place.
“Awmagaaad I looove casinoos”
I did not leave the casino with alot of money…
It sure was a couple of exciting days.
Instead of checking to rehab, we are now all back at the office, working our asses of as usual.
But I can’t really complain about my internship so far
Not a single thing actually, I’m loving it, as fat people say.
There is more pics from our adventures on the Your-Majesty flickr-page!
Here are two pics of how the custom “shoebox” rooms turned out, mine still looks like a piece of sh**t so I can’t show it yet, I’ll do it when I’ve visited IKEA
The living room, each window is a shoebox, mine is the one on the top right! Keeping it minimal with the furniture. Although we let Greg go loose with a Krink-pen:
Urban living yao.
So how have your first month been so far?
